Andover Reads is a community reading program. The idea is that everyone in the whole town reads the same book. The library will also be holding a bunch of interesting programs people can attend for free.
However, we figured it might be more interesting for students to have a separate (and shorter) book to read. The adults are reading the book, The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan (340 pages of nonfiction)... the students are being encouraged to read the book Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse (only 227 short pages).
Both books are based on a period in American history referred to as the "Dust Bowl." In grand Teen Room fashion, we will be celebrating the books and paying tribute to those who lived through that era with fun programs. A teen book discussion group will also be held on Thursday, April 23 from 3-4pm. We hope you'll be there!
