Teen Programs for March 2012!

Teens in grades 6 through 12 are welcome to join the fun at MHL! Here's a list of upcoming programs:

Friday, March 2, 3-4pm: Game Day! Come play Chess, Scrabble or one of our other games!

Monday, March 5, 3:30-4pm: Guess How Many? If you guess closest, without going over, you win the contents of the container!

Tuesday, March 6, 6:30pm: Movie Night in the Teen Room

Tuesday, March 13, 6:30pm: Movie Night in the Teen Room

Wednesday, March 14, 3pm: Crafternoon! We'll provide the supplies and instruction. You provide the creativity!

Friday, March 16, 3pm: Happy St. Patrick's Day a day early! Enjoy a green treat at 3pm.

Tuesday, March 20, 6:30pm: Movie Night in the Teen Room

Thursday, March 22, 3pm: Hunger Games Jeopardy! Prizes!

Friday, March 23: Poetry Contest Entries Due!

Monday, March 26, 3:30pm: Chip Taste Test! Tell us which brand you like the best!

The teen Lock-In scheduled for Friday, February 24th has been cancelled. We will reschedule this event soon.

Be a Volunteen! Apply today!

We're happy to announce that the volunteen program is getting started again! Here's the information:

1. Students in grades 6 through 12 are welcome to apply to be volunteens.

2. Volunteens will be trained to work one-on-one with young children who will be practicing their reading skills.

3. Students who are accepted into the volunteen program must attend one of the mandatory training sessions. The dates and times are: Wednesday, February 15 at 7pm or Thursday, February 16 at 3:30pm. NOTE: Training sessions are required for everyone, even if you have been a volunteen in the past.

4. The program runs every Thursday, from 3:30pm-4:30pm, beginning Thursday, March 1st through Thursday, April 19th. That is 8 weeks.

5. Students receive 9 hours of community service (8 hour long sessions plus the training session). A letter will be sent to the student's home at the end of the program.
